How Do You Bend Metal?

A few factors come to mind for consideration when bending metal: Do you want a curve or a bend? What is the composition and thickness of the metal you are bending? Has your metal been heat treated? What resources are available for bending your project? Depending on the answer to these questions along with some other variables you can determine the most effective method for applying your desired metal bend.

In our metal fabrication shop, we have a hydraulic break that can handle some pretty heavy duty bending. This 10 foot beast has a magical foot petal that when pressed will do all the heavy bending for you. This eliminates the need for a superman-style strong man in your shop (well almost). While there are other methods for bending some metals, this happens to be our favorite here at FYP. It has saved us quite a bit of time and energy, and has allowed us to take on some projects we would have had to pass up prior to its acquisition. It can even bend stainless!

This is just one of the many tools we have at our disposal for creating custom metal work. We love being able to provide full service to our customers, and enjoy having equipment like the hydraulic break to provide unique capabilities that can be hard to find in a metal shop.
